What Is Wealthy Affiliate?

Wealthy Affiliate is a website that enables people to earn money through a method known as affiliate marketing which basically involves promoting products or services online in return for commissions.

You see, most companies, including the big names like Amazon & Best Buy, all have things called “affiliate programs” through which you can sign up to promote their products for money.

As an example, Amazon’s affiliate program (named Amazon Associates) can be seen below:

As you can see from the screenshot the program is titled “Profit from Amazon” & the banner states that you can earn up to a whopping 12% in commissions by promoting their products.

So you sign up to the program, promote the links to the products & then if somebody clicks through the link & makes a purchase, you get paid a commission.

It’s a fantastic (and perfectly legitimate) way to earn money online.

However, whilst the process of affiliate marketing itself is very simple, whether or not you actually see success with it depends on how well you’re able to promote your links.

If you can’t get clicks, you won’t make sales – and if you can’t get sales, you won’t earn commissions.

So that’s what Wealthy Affiliate is there to help with.

How Does Wealthy Affiliate Work?

Wealthy Affiliate teaches people how to earn money through affiliate marketing & it primarily focuses on a free & relatively easy method known as search engine optimisation.

You see, as mentioned in the previous section of this review your success with affiliate marketing lies upon whether or not you can get people clicking through your links & purchasing things.

So Wealthy Affiliate teaches you a method which enables you to leverage search engines like Google, Yahoo & Bing to get unlimited amounts of free visitors that you can promote things to.

The method basically involves creating small, simple webpages around things that you’re passionate about (and Wealthy Affiliate provides you with the tools to create them).

Then, once the pages are created, search engines like Google automatically discover them & list them in their results for people to click on whenever they search for things related to them.

So as an example, if you had an interest in cycling then you could create a page outlining what you believed to be the best cycling backpacks for commuting.

Then, Google would automatically discover it & list it within their results whenever somebody searched for something related to cycling backpacks as shown below:

And once the page has been listed in the results, people will begin clicking through to it & then this gives you the opportunity to promote something to them as an affiliate.

Which is exactly what the creator of that page shown in the example above has done, take a look:

As you can see from the screenshot above the person who has created that page has added affiliate links next to each backpack which take the visitor to the purchase page on Amazon.

This means that if the visitor clicks that links and makes a purchase (even if they purchase something entirely different) then the creator of that page will get paid a commission.

So from a small one-time effort of initially setting the page up the creator could then continue to earn completely passive commissions for many, many years to come.

In fact, I actually found a page which was still ranked at number 1 in Google despite never been updated in over 25 years.

So it’s safe to say that there’s certainly a lot of potential in this & the best part is that there’s absolutely no limit on the amount of pages you can create or the amount of money you can earn.

The harder you work, the more you stand to earn.

How Do You Make Money With Wealthy Affiliate?

There are 2 main ways that you can earn money with Wealthy Affiliate.

The first way is to follow the Online Entrepreneur Certification course & build out a website through which you’ll promote products related to something you’re passionate about.

As an example, here is a website created by a Wealthy Affiliate member who has an interest in football:

The member has built the website around the niche subject of “football snack helmets” & the site has Amazon affiliate links enabling visitors to purchase helmets for each of the football teams.

Those helmet pages get listed in Google, people click on them, they purchase a helmet & then the owner of the website earns a commission for referring them to Amazon.

Simple, right?

But if you can’t think of anything that you’re passionate about or anything you’d like to build a website around then you can alternatively pursue the Affiliate Bootcamp course instead & earn money by recommending Wealthy Affiliate to others.

They sign up to Wealthy Affiliate, upgrade to Premium & you get paid a commission.

If you’re a Starter member you’ll earn 25% of their membership fees but if you upgrade to Premium yourself then that commission will be increased all the way up to 50%.

However, even though recommending Wealthy Affiliate may seem like the “easy route” to go down I would still strongly advise trying to pursue a passion first.

The reason I say that is because pursuing a passion will make the process much more fun & if you’re having fun with it then you’ll be much more likely to see success.

How Much Does Wealthy Affiliate Cost?

Getting started with Wealthy Affiliate is actually completely free of charge. You can create a Starter account with just an email address (no payment details required) & that’ll enable you to begin working through the lessons.

You’ll even be able to build out your very first website as a Starter member, too.

Then, if you decide you like what you see & wish to pursue it properly, you can upgrade to the Premium membership which gives you access to everything inside.

And the important point here is that once you’re a Premium member that’s it – you’ll have access to everything, there are NO additional upsells or hidden costs.

So you’ll likely be thinking that it’ll be pretty expensive, right?

Well, the good news is that it’s not as Premium membership costs only $49 per month, and you can even bring that cost down to just $30 per month by paying for the full year in advance.

A full year costs $359 which means you’ll be paying less than $1 per day.

Is Wealthy Affiliate Worth It?

In a word, yes. If you want to see success with affiliate marketing then in my opinion Wealthy Affiliate is the best place to get started as it provides absolutely everything you could ever need.

You’ll get training, tools, web-hosting, 24/7 community support & even access to 1-on-1 private mentorship.

And as mentioned in the previous section of this Wealthy Affiliate review you’ll be getting all that for literally less than $1 per day if you pay for the full year in advance.

But I know what you might be thinking… If it’s cheap, it must be low-quality, right?

Wrong.

How Long Does It Take To Make Money?

Here’s the deal. Technically you could become an affiliate an make money the very same day if you were able to get somebody to click via your link & make a purchase.

However, you have to be realistic… Like anything new, there’s going to be a learning curve.

Some people earn their first commissions in the first month. Some in the second, and some in the third.

But I would recommend setting yourself a goal of at least 6 months before expecting to see your first commissions & then at least that way you won’t find yourself disappointed.

You see, affiliate marketing is just like any other business & it has to be treated like one. You wouldn’t expect to open a shop & immediately turn a profit, so you shouldn’t with affiliate marketing either.

I know what you’re probably thinking though… If it takes so long then why should you bother at all?

As you can see from the graph the member was earning less than a few hundred dollars per month for the first 5 months, but then in month 6, that income exploded.

He went from a few hundred dollars to over $2,000 per month in income & then by month 10 he was even earning over $6,000 per month.

So hopefully you can see that whilst it might initially take quite a bit of time for things to take off it is most certainly worth it, in the long run, providing you stick with it.
