Starting With How It All Actually Works

Honestly, the process of making money from a blog is actually stupidly-simple & when I tell you about it here you’ll likely kick yourself because it’ll have been staring you in the face every single time you’ve been online.

You see most companies with an online presence have something called “affiliate programs” through which you can promote their products for money – including the big names like Amazon, Best Buy, etc…

In fact here’s a screenshot of Amazon’s actual affiliate program, which they call Amazon Associates:

As you can see, the program is titled “Profit from Amazon” and they state that they’ll pay you a whopping 12% in advertising fees (aka commissions) for referring people to their site.

You send someone to Amazon, they purchase something, you get paid.

It’s literally that simple.

And the best part is that there’s absolutely no limit on the amount you can earn with this. Some affiliates make 5-figures per month doing this… Some even make 6-figures per month.

Crazy, I know.

But the crazier part is that those kind of figures aren’t actually unrealistic. Providing you’re prepared to put in the work then those figures are absolutely more than achievable.

So Where Does a Blog Come Into Play?

Well here’s the deal. Whenever you create content online, such as a blog post – search engines like Google, Yahoo & Bing automatically discover it & list it within their results.

So as an example, let’s say you created a blog post outlining what you believed to be the best cycling backpacks for commuting.

When somebody searched Google for something related to that content, the blog post that you’d created would be displayed as a listing in the results for people to click on, like this:

This means that after creating the content you’d then have the opportunity for people to begin visiting your blog… And the more content you add, the more you increase that opportunity.

Essentially, you could think of every piece of content & every blog post that you create as being an extra “doorway” for people to come through to visit your site from search engines.

The more you have, the more people you’ll get visiting.

Make sense?

Then, going back to what we mentioned previously about affiliate programs… Once you’ve got visitors reading your stuff, you then become able to promote things to them – via affiliate links.

And that’s exactly what the creator of that cycling backpack article has done, take a look:

As you can see from the screenshot above, the creator of that blog post has added affiliate links to Amazon next to each of the backpacks that he’s listed on the page.

This means that if somebody searches for cycling backpacks, clicks his blog post & then purchases something, he gets paid.

And the great part about affiliate marketing is that even if the visitor who clicks the affiliate link goes on to purchase something entirely different altogether, the creator will still get paid a commission all the same.

So from a one-time small effort of creating that blog post, the creator of that website could be earning a passive income from Amazon for literally many years to come.

And the more pages he creates, the more money he can make…
