There are SO many WordPress themes out there it can be difficult to figure out which one will work best, look best, be functional & yet still provide good SEO rankings.
Thankfully, I found the answer.

What Is The Best WordPress Theme?
The best WordPress theme, as far as I’m concerned, is a theme called GeneratePress.
I mean, admittedly out of the box as a standard installation GeneratePress may not immediately look too impressive, but after a month of using it (on 10+ websites, including this one) I don’t think I’ll ever use a different WordPress theme again.
Not only is GeneratePress super lightweight, and super good for SEO, but it’s also super customisable.
And it also comes with an amazing feature called Site Library.
Through Site Library you can basically use GeneratePress to create a “done-for-you” website for any niche or business.
And it can be done with the simple click of a button.

At a glance, all of those images may look like completely different themes, but they’re not – they’re all just “done-for-you” customised versions of GeneratePress.
That’s how flexible GeneratePress is – you can do anything with it.
But to save you the time of having to tweak & play with things yourself, you can simply head on into Site Library & choose a “done-for-you” version of the theme.
And this website right here is built off the back of one of those Site Library themes.

Why I Believe It’s The Best WordPress Theme
Over the years I’ve used a lot of themes. I’ve used a lot of great-looking themes, too, and I’ve also used a lot of themes (like Thrive Themes) that allowed for great customisability.
The problem?
Most of the great-looking themes were not very customisable, and most of the very customisable themes were badly coded & clunky (like Thrive Themes).
I actually paid for the Premium version of Thrive Themes & got rid of it the very same day. Probably one of the clunkiest & worst themes I’ve ever used to this date.
GeneratePress, however, combines the perfect combination of both.
It’s VERY well coded (meaning it loads extremely fast which is perfect for SEO), and it’s super customisable so that you can do literally just about anything you want with it.
To highlight how well GeneratePress is coded, the default “out of the box” version of the theme lands in at just 30kb.
The image I posted further up in this post (showing the Site Library example) is 166kb.
The whole GeneratePress theme is over 5 times smaller in filesize than the little image further up in this post.
And that resulted in me managing to score a clean 100 for this blog post on Google’s PageSpeed Insights as shown below:
And loading speed is VERY important for success because not only does Google now use speed as a ranking factor, but they also published these statistics regarding speed & bounce rate:
So although I said that speed was important, I think it’s actually vital.
You need a fast loading website, and that’s one of the biggest reasons as to why I believe GeneratePress is the best WordPress theme because it’s just stupidly fast.
And I was so pleased with it that after just an hour of trying it out on one of my websites I immediately switched 10 of my other websites to the GeneratePress theme too.
Now here I am writing this blog post about it being the best WordPress theme because I’m literally so happy with it that I want to shout from the rooftops how good it is.
I only wish I found it sooner.

How Much Does It Cost?
I started out this blog post by telling you that the theme is free, and it is.
Anybody can head on over to GeneratePress & grab a free copy of the theme to install on their sites.
However, they do also have a Premium version & some features, such as Site Library are indeed restricted to the Premium version.
I know, I know, I’m always begrudged paying for Premium too & when I first installed GeneratePress myself I told myself that I wasn’t going to upgrade.
Long story short, I pretty much immediately upgraded.
The good news is that the Premium version of the theme (at the time of writing this blog post) costs just a one-time fee of $49.95 & that gives you the ability to use it on an unlimited number of websites.
If you want updates then you’ll need to renew each year, but I can tell you that in my opinion, I believe it’s a worthy investment because you’ll never need another WordPress theme again.
Seriously, the theme is game-changer.
